There are many situations in which a
person should wear a nighttime safety vest. Nighttime safety vests come
in many forms and colors. In general, nighttime safety vests are either
yellow or orange. In some cases, nighttime safety vests combine both of
these colors.
In addition, some nighttime safety vests include lights that help
improve the reflectivity of the nighttime safety vests. These lights are
generally powered by AAA batteries that are included within the
nighttime safety vest.
Yet other nighttime safety vests come with a variety of accessories. For
example, some have pockets that are specially designed to hold pencils.
Some have pockets at the bottom to store paper, calculators, or other
items a person might need to carry while wearing a nighttime safety
vest.
Many nighttime safety vests close in the front using Velcro strips. But,
other nighttime safety vests are available with zipper closures and
buttons. The exact style and color of the vest to be used for nighttime
safety can vary depending upon the situation during which the vest is
worn.
Occupations
There are many jobs for which a nighttime safety vest should be worn.
For example, parking lot attendants and people who retrieve shopping
carts should wear nighttime safety vests. People in these occupations
should wear a nighttime safety visit with at least a class 1 ANSI
ranking, which is the lowest ranking of safety vest reflectivity. People
in these occupations only need the lowest ranking of reflectivity
because cars do not move at high speeds in parking lots. Therefore,
drivers are likely to easily see a person wearing just a class 1 ANSI
ranked nighttime safety visit.
People working in occupations of a riskier nature, where cars pass at
greater speeds, should use ANSI class 2 nighttime safety vests.
Therefore, people who work in roadway construction and utility need a
class 2 nighttime safety vest because they work alongside roads and
highways on which cars travel at great speeds. Similarly, people working
in high volume parking areas and toll gate personnel need to wear
nighttime safety vests.
